The Ch'an Meditation Center a division of Dharma Drum Mountain
Buddhist Association. It is a place of serenity and self-cultivation, located in Elmhurst, Queens, a multicultural
neighborhood in New York City. We welcome all those interested in meditation and the study and practice of
Buddhism, regardless of background, age or ethnic origin. We offer access to Buddhism through a variety of
approaches, including classes and lectures on Buddhist scriptures and philosophy, introductory
meditation, retreats, chanting and ceremonies.
The Center is also a small monastery where bhikshus and bhikshunis (fully
ordained monks and nuns) live and practice the traditional precepts including
harmony, celibacy and purity of mind.
The Dharma Drum Retreat Center is the country location,
in upstate New York, of the Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist
Association. In a rural setting with warm days and cool
nights, the center is an invigorating place to learn and
practice Buddhism. Open all year, the center has facilities
for intensive meditation retreats lasting 2 to 49 days, as
well as classes, lectures, and individual work retreats.
Dharma Drum Publications is a nonprofit publisher of books on Buddhism and
Chan (Zen). It's titles are published in appreciation of Buddhism as a living philosophy and
with the commitment to preserve and transmit important works from the
Chan Buddhist tradition.
Since it's birth in 1996, the Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association
has grown rapidly. Many local chapters have been established
in the US and Canada to provide a channel for sharing Ven.
Sheng-yen's teachings.
The College Dharma Association was established in
December 2002 to facilitate the study and practice of Master
Sheng Yen's Chan teaching for college students and young
professionals.
